The Rudy Attachment

Rudy Project makes some fine glasses & helmets, they really are top notch. There must be a lot of thought that goes into their design for high performance & function.  I have noticed a trend:  a Rudy helemt just isn’t a Rudy helmet until it has something attachable/detachable.

For instance the Rudy Stratosphere.  It comes with a rear visor that is made from the same sort of nerf material as the helmet itself.  The function, I figure, is it keeps the back of the neck from getting burned on mid summer rides & looks cool to boot.  Earlier iterations of this helmet had the option to snap it on the front as well.

TT helmets are some of the most technical and test labbed lids around- so of course they offer even more opportunities for attachements.  The SytonSuperComp has those nifty ear covers, vents plugs & eye shield.

This looks like a fairly straight forward helmet right?  Yes, it is & more!

When turned over, revealed is a nicely flush slot right above the brow that is designed to accept a face shield not too dissimilar to that of the SytonSuperComp shown above .  For those who don’t want to be bothered with the hassle of glasses, the face shield may be a solution.  I wish I still had the instructions that came with this helmet showing its use in diagram.

Last but not least are a pair of goggles.  I couldn’t find the Rudy attachment trend in the eye wear so much as the helmets, but these goggles have a removable beak protector.  It has admirably shielded my beak from the elements on occasion.  It is a foam lined plastic shell with slots- and very functional!
