This is for the Frozen Rider. I have a pair of Sealskins. The thick wool ones. The key is using sock liners. You can buy them at most sporting goods store. You wear them under your wool sock. They let your feet sweat through them to the outer layer. Your feet stay dry and toasty. They work great with Defeet Blaze wool socks. I wear that combo while working or riding. I do not use overs socks or toe covers. I live in a snow belt region. Also as a side note, they work well with acrylic or nylon based dress socks for work or those fancy situations. Good Luck.

    my method for warm feet:
65° – 70° range: Defeet Levitaor or Aireator sock, lycra shoe cover over

60° – 65° range: DeFeet Levitator or Aireator sock, Slipstream over

50° – 60° range: DeFeet Wooleator sock, DeFeet Slipstreams over

40° – 50° range: DeFeet Wooleator or Woolie Boolie sock, DeFeet Slipstreams over, lycra shoe cover over that

32° – 40° range: DeFeet Wooleator or Woolie Boolie sock, lycra shoe cover, neoprene shoe cover over that

    >32°: DeFeet Woolie Boolie sock, charcoal heater pack over shoe (toe area) and under a lycra shoe cover, neoprene shoe cover over that

I forgot, your shoes need to have have some wiggle room in the toe box. If it is too tight or snug, then the use of any combo of socks will not matter. Good circulation is key.

Thanks for the heads up! I haven’t used them yet (or even own them), but our sponsored rider (www.ottawa.cx) really likes them and recommended them. I thought she might be crazy! She returns from Belgium next week (with my socks), so I should be able to put them to the test soon! Based on the podcast I might also get a pair of the Shimano Winter Shoes as we have freezing temps for the next month to six weeks!

    Thanks again!

    Frozen Roadie!
