It is that time of year, the bike attention starts to wonder… and you start taking on other projects. It seems like every year there is some random bike project I take on in the fall, goofy single speed, major parts swap on bikes etc… this year the Schwinn Twinn was the project. Awesome is the word, oh & rickety. There’s a reason drum brakes have been replaced by disk brakes. This bike is quite a thrill to ride. Fast. Down a hill or around a turn.
The other thing people start doing at this time of year is talk cyclocross. There has been light chatter on the podcast, a slow build, but this edition it is full on cross as John G is turning into Fun Run Johng in preparation. First, we welcome you to the latest edition of the Two Johns Podcast. We talk rider transfers for the coming year, Team BMC stepping up with Hinacpie signings among others, John G says ‘good on ya’ from Peletonia & John K attends US Road Race Championship in Greenville. Listener feedback includes our favorites DERF and what’s all part of his podium fantasy, Fun Run gets around, size matters when talking about stem length? spray on numbers instead of crumpling, alumni jersey- ok to wear? & we save the listener feedback of the week winner from the haggis breathed Velo-Scots & so much more to enjoy in this, our best podcast ever!!!

For the love of god, get thee both to the closest “shack” and buy yourselfs a couple of decent mic jacks! If needed I will make another donation to cover the cost!
If that was me shaking “HIS” hand I would have stuck one of my fingers inside and tickled his palm just so he would remember me!

Mic jacks – plural? I thought that John G just kept John K in a wardrobe and simply recorded on the one mic. Figured that they’d just swapped places this week…
(Sorry, guys, everyone’s a critic, I know, I know…)

Since my question of what is the “Ultimate Prize” was never really answered on the podcast I must turn to this august forum for help. So, just what is this fleeting prize anyway?
Please tell me it’s not something mundane like money, or chest thumping bragging rights on the next club run. If it’s not what I think it is then I’m dropping cycling all together and taking bowling back up… at least I could score on the lonely trailer park MILFs.

Aye two johns it is true i have been known to dabble with other cycling podcasts, but the question you have to ask yourselves [2JS] Who has a set of scottish cycling coffee mugs, as far as i know they are not to be seen in the state of longhorns,a man with no name and the dallas cowboys, even the great radio shack do not have coffee mugs like you 2. During my 12 hours of cycling , you can get stale of the same “frankie goes to hollywood music on the ipod” and somtimes i like to listen to something different however it does not mean it is as good as the podcasting cycling men of ohio and north carolina. As a said on twitter you two are like a good malt whisky and a prise haggis FRR

Is it my imagaination or are most of the guys in that cyclocross image above wearing one peice body suits? Is that a serious violation of twojonic law?
September 5th, 2009 at 6:12 am
Skinsuits are de rigueur in cyclocross amongst the top level competitors, the more serious particicants and the Freds who emulate them. Unfortunately some of the amateurs can’t really pull it off. Being a bit of a clydesdale myself, I’d sensibly pass on the skinsuit. Hey, no one likes a bony gimp.

Maybe it’s not the jack..perhaps John G. just needs a longer cord…or a chair without wheels?

On the Numb Hands question the Two Johns once again depart no wisdom to anyone. “Your hands shoudn’t be numb”. Duh.
The reason Rosey Palms hands go numb is to much pressure on him hands because or poor core strength or failure to use your core strength on the bike.
Get the CycloCore program and work it everyday. Your hands will stop hurting.
_____________________________________________________________________
Rosey- we added more than “Your hands shoudn’t be numb”. yours is one way to address the problem, but Numb Hands needs to find a balance between the contact points on the bike & give those contact points as much support as possible. jk

C’mon rosey — we did give some (semi)constructive advice, but I do like you suggestion of core strength. It is most likely a combination of all three – position, core strength and how he’s resting his hands on the bars/hoods. John G

The current mics and their tendency to come unplugged don’t bother me at all. As a matter of fact, I find it reassuring. It is the only time I am sure you two are mere mortals.
The podcast is free and there are more important things to worry about, just reach over and plug them back in occasionally.
Besides…
I like to fantasize about what John G is doing to cause his mic to come unplugged during a podcast….

Thanks ‘A Wife’. I am not sure what happens. I probably shouldn’t quash the images of what is happening as the sound dissolves into fuzziness… but it is not John break dancing on a cardboard box, practicing Jiu-Jitsu or coming unplugged from constantly turning his head from computer screen to tv screen when ‘Project Runway’ is on. The fuzziness just eases in, until the usb mic is unplugged & plugged back in. I used to edit it out, but decided when we would re-record the segment that was edited, it was stale. So, just as Ed Wood would have it, everything is one take, no editing, no scripting.

CB your link is awesome.
JG doesn’t like John Candy but he does like pansy-ass french apertif’s? Go figure.
This pic of Ms Hatch is hilarious: http://www.allhailtheblackmarket.com/2009/09/fridays_post_on_thursday_after.html#more
I’d also recommend http://www.bicycleradio.com . They do a LIVE show on monday nights and it’s worth the listen…as an addition to the Two Johns not as a replacement!
