What do you dream about?  Is it this Redline BMX frame?  We get asked this among other things in our best podcast ever!  The Two Johns both strike out in their picks of the podium of the Men’s World Championship Road Race in Mendrisio this past weekend & we applaud Cadel’s attack.  Radio Free Europe? John G reads an email from Slice about the proposed radio ban, provides education on their use & has his own proposal for how the conerns of radio free racing could be addressed.  Local News is short this week, largely consisting of news of an upcoming cross clinic at the Cincinnati Cross races by Molly Cameron & Joachin Parbo & John K goes for a soul ride on the mtb.  Our product review segment has us talking about Forze GPS, products that address a different aspect of athlete’s nutrition.  Look for a written review of the product soon on the blog.  Thankfully, we get some static on our static, Alva asks about the greatest story ever told, when do you become a true roadie?, John G leaves when asked about which mtb a listener should get & do you dream of BMX bikes? & J-Hole provide us with a feedback segment unlike one we have had in a long time.

The Two Johns are happy to be back with the latest installment of the podcast.  Some podcasts have been longer, some have been shorter & some may have even had more information, but none have been better than this one, our best podcast ever!

We share our bike love as we review this year’s Vuelta: Valverde brings it home, but Moncoutie is the highlight, we make our worlds picks- John G says German, Swiss, Norwegian- John K says Spaniard & Italian & wanna bet?  Local news: John G does first cross race of season, marvels at barrier hopping rider, no prep gets you ready for cross, John K gets prepared and says has not had time to race- but actually, I forgot, I did race, but it was quite unremarkable.  Listener Feedback is loaded with questions from all over the world:  why do we bash the Scots?  How do I stretch my bike muscles?  Where have the 2 Johns been? The Gentleman Roadie of Portland writes romance fiction, Pedalling Pastor heading to Nepal, who wouldn’t love to ride in Missouri? how do I order Two Johns the…?  & more.  This week’s prize is not brought to you by Defeet, but by the Two Johns- a coveted Two Johns T-Shirt.  Finally, we have the return of Technology where John G talks about his new cross bike & how great the brakes are, while John K talks about fooling around with mechanical advantages by changing the cable straddle location.  We bring some extra energy to this, our best podcast ever!

Listener Submitted Photos

Whilst John K. is busy assembling the latest podcast I thought I’d post the pictures you’ve been sending in the last few weeks. We receive links, scans of articles, videos, and pictures that don’t really fit into the audio podcast format, so here ya go.

The Gentleman Roadie of Portland sent this snap of his calf with some sort of question about whether his sock were too high or too low. I think is was just an excuse for him to take pictures of himself and send them to us in the hopes of impressing Fiona and the rest of the Boulder Power Puff Triathletes. Pathetic really…

brokenhelmet1
Here we see the result of a PowerAid drink being hurled from a passing car into a group of cyclists. Listener Carl wonders, “why did it happen?” and, “why do I see little birdies flying around my head?” Glad you are ok.

doubletrouble
Double Trouble was the rhythm section for influential bluesman Stevie Ray Vaughan. It also applies to this monstrosity that Cream Cycle recently spotted in Central Park, NY. Stay away, far away!

softrider
The SoCalCannibal found this um… er… bicycle somewhere in Cali. Tribars + Softride + Starbucks = Frankenbike.

yabonney
Ahh, Fun Run Robbie is a clever lad. He teaches, he commutes, he set personal TT records on the Sunday club run with the Harrietdale Terriers, or is it Teviotdale Harriers, or Westhamptionshirewood Glenfidichians? Anyway, they apparently allowed him to enter and leave Canada.

polish-team
This one has made the rounds before, but it’s worth another look. Alva sends this and wonders if we are on extended holiday. No Alva, we are just packing our bib shorts for winter. Storing nuts if you will…

necx
And finally, this photo from a NE CX racer who usually does the Masters A’s but showed up late, did the 3’s, found himself on the 2nd step, raised the proper arm, but wonders if he should’ve stayed kitted up for the photo. What I want to know is why is there a cross race in a cemetery and did you use tombstones for barriers?

The other day I bought a sample pack of beers that included the always enjoyable, Piraat.  Sometimes these packs are the same cost as buying the beer but, just like the cereal, they often come with a ‘free inside’.  This time, rather than the glass, the ‘free inside’ was a very entertaining DVD by the importer.  Here he tells of the history of these beers with information that may or may not relate, the French Revolutuion, the freezing of the Rhine, the breaking of the Church, domestication of yeast, sexual revolution & his boarding school having no graduates dedicated to the priest hood as evidence… & there is good information about beer too.
