So much going on at 2JPC world headquarters, so little time… The listener feedback is stacking up, the t-shirts have arrived (but are not yet on the products page), there’s racing to do, the Desert Dog is visiting, I need to pack for France, and last but not least we need to do a new cast before the big boucle commences.

We are soliciting your picks for the Tour:

Best Climber
Best Sprinter
Highest placed Frenchie

In the meantime occupy yourself with this. uhn tiss, uhn tiss…

Just curious here… anyone else have a huge pet peeve of friends who ruin stage news for you before you can get home to watch your DVR? Am I being unreasonable for getting upset when friends spill big stage news on their Facebook status updates? I usually do well to avoid news sites that might spill it…and accidentally hearing it in the parking lot before a ride is different too. But…when this buddy has seen me go “postal” about spillage before… Grrrr and ROAR! (and no, its not “my time” ..lol.. this just p*sses me off!)
Killjoys!

Yes, one should inquire as to the currency of a fellow fan’s tour knowledge before yelling “Cav killed ‘em again!”. Oops..
Bebe called me and her picks are:
GC: World Peace
Best Youngster: The Children of the World
Best Climber: The Environment
Best Sprinter: PETA
Highest Placed Surrender Monkey: Liberté, égalité, fraternité
Bastille Day Winner: Some French Guy (it’s a law or something)
1st Team w/ Doping Offense: No one, get high on life.
I think our sport (and the world) is enobled by these lofty high minded picks. Thanks Bebe, you drip.

I didn’t realize how many points are awarded for a stage win. At the pace Cavendish is on to notch 5-7 stages he should be wearing that green jersey all the way to the finish line in Paris.
July 7th, 2009 at 6:54 am
Loveavet, I am with you. It pisses me off when I try all day to not go to cyclingnews only to be ambushed by twitter or facebook.
Anyone else find it interesting that Mick Rogers, Martin and Kirchen and putting in gobs of energy into the sprint train? I am guessing that Columbia is giving up on GC and just focusing on the Green this year.
July 7th, 2009 at 8:04 pm
Not too late to make picks you say Johns?
Best Sprinter: Mark Cavendish
July 8th, 2009 at 1:24 pm
GC = Contador
Best Young = A Schleck
Best Climber = Sastre
Best Sprinter = Cavendish
Highest Placed Français = Voeckler
Bastille Day Winner = Ignatiev
First team with doping positive = Silence-Lotto (honestly this was my pick before Dekker, but I will stick with it, they’ll have another one)
PS: my wife’s cousin is a hot French actress and was in the video for Bloodhound Gang’s ‘Discovery Channel’ song. No joke.
July 8th, 2009 at 9:11 pm
Why would a hot French actress marry a Scot?
GC= Manstrong
Best Young= Da Costa Rui Alberto Faria
Polka Dot = Dennis Menchov
Green Jersy= Canvendish
Highest Placed Frog= Voeckler
Bastille Day Winner= Mauro Santambrogio
First Control Positive= Silence Lotto
Please give sarcastic cyclist the respect he deserves. Chuffs my bollocks that a hot anything would hang with a Scot (unless he is always gone cycling around the world).

Maybe Moncoutié listens secretly to the TJPC. He sure sounds inspired.
David Moncoutié (Cofidis) wants to win the final mountains’ jersey this year.
“Winning the jersey at the Vuelta gave me the idea to try for it at the Tour, too,” he said. “Moreover, the route this year is well-suited to attacks in the mountains. Three stages start with climbs right away, so I hope to be out front on those days.”
“It wasn’t me who told him to set himself this goal, I swear!” said Cofidis manager Eric Boyer. “He suggested it, and I think he’s now capable of it. He has to attack in the Pyrenees right away, then we will see how many points he can make. He needs to be in the top three [of the classification] by the end of the first week to remain in contention. If he is not, then he might let go of his goal and aim at a stage victory instead.”
