Stand No Tubes Demo: Play Now | Play in Popup | DownloadThe Two Johns once again sit and talk your favorite subjects: International News- does Dauphine Success = Tour Success? Waiting for Moncoutie to pounce, will he win a stage this year? Hinault goes off. Local: John K goes to Philly Liberty Classic and reports of a top drawer event and team support is tough! John G is prepping for State RR.
While in Philly, SRAM was displaying their 2010 Force groupo pictured below. Maybe some of those that asked about their group selection in the latest podcast should save a few more duckets and go for this group- it look s quite nice. The cool case with fitted foam does not come with the group. Those things are pretty cool. It reminds me of something a former employer told me once, “John, man makes two things, tools & containers for tools”. Here we see both the container & the tools. I have been trying to disprove that ever since, but the only thing I can come up with is art or podcasts. It could be said that is a tool for conveying ideas. But I digress…
Listener Feedback as always brought to you by Defeet as our listeners submit their bids for some OVER SHOES and a pair of socks for their efforts. We hear from Gumbo Boy with more data on indulgence- but the Two Johns are unlcear, Hugo Weaving, John G Momento?, Metro Mike disappointed to get pipped at the line, its the return of the Scots as our previous podcast was Scot free- but not this one, FRR asks what groupo and we get the list of the greatest Scottish Cyclists of All Time, our expert off road man gives his input on running tubeless. Plus when is a kaibosh not a kaibosh? When you roll all kaiboshs up into one story- that’s when.

Hey… Did I hear that right? Did Scottish Roadie just call me a douche-bag in his email? Dude, those are fighting words… If I was in those lovely scottish hills right now I would hunt you down and race face you till it hurt!
I wanted to comment on the question about Ultegra Vs. Force. I asked Zen Master Miyagi if it would be worth upgrading my FSA so-so cranks to Dura-Ace and he said no…just wait until this summer and the new Ultegra group will be announced… he said it’s going to be amazing. He always has had good info in the past so I have no reason to doubt him on this one either.

Can we kaibosh “ya bone hey”? I’d rather hear you talk about everything else that has been kaibosh’ed because most of them were at least funny.
Also I’m curious to hear John G’s prediction for what team will have the first doping positive in the Tour, as he was pretty darn close last year.
Keep up the radness and leave the scottish slang to Trainspotting.

Agreed Urben Hermit!
I also am boycotting that phrase. I’m sure the Scots don’t want to hear it anymore then I want to here “y’all have a good day, ya hear” rendered in Queens English. I also refuse to get my coat of arms researched for very similar reasons even though there are a number of scots hiding in my family histor.
In fact, I think that the Twojohn’s faithful need to rally in support of this avant-garde podcast…To hear John G. state that they had been “dropped by the Scots” brought a bitter tear to my eye and set my competative blood boiling. How could this have happened? How could we let these brash yet talented Scots go up the road with such a gap?
So, I propose we form a cyber paceline to match the “blue Train of past tours. We will be united in our cause of raising the Twojohnspodcast back to a podium position. We will pull our team co-leaders John and John to the front of the Peleton and steam roller forward until we chase down these Scottish pretenders to the throne.
Allez Johns!… Allez, Allez! Vous devez avoir le coeur d’un lion!
“How is this accomplished?” you ask.. Get on iTunes and write a review… log on as someelse and write another review! Write one in your dog’s name and your great great grandmothers and in the name of that little girl that race faced John. Surely, a country like America that has produced the likes of ACORN can tamper with a little old iTunes ranking system!
Best,

Fellow TJPC Groupies, I Need advice ASAP.
I’m off to the bike shop to replace my worn tires in about 12 hours. I need some advice one which ones to choose. I need a good training tire that is decent in sometimes wet weather here. I only have one set of wheels and I am a medium milage rider that rides hard on the weekends in club rides but that’s about it. I’m off into the southern Japanese Alps (foothills) this weekend for some hard riding with a few Japanese friends so lightness would be nice as well.
I don’t care about cost or wear life.
I do care about handling, puncture resistance and roll quality.
Choices at my bike shop are the Conti GP4000s. Vittoria Diamante and maybe a Hutchenson Fusion 2. I’m interested in the tubless type but not at expense of handling.
All advice welcomed please…Thanks!
A-K Zaaf
A-K, I have been riding some Hutchinson Fusions 2’s for a couple months- its decent tire, the contis are nice too, but I’d probably go with the Hutchinson. JK

hi AK-ZaaF FKA DERF: I was actually quoting you calling yourself a douchebag- it was from memory, and I may simply have misquoted you. … checked back and the actual quote was “a total goober”, so sorry!
Fighting talk, yes! You’d have to get up the Scottish hills in the first place in order to race face me. I would be all cheerful and waving, and you’d be all wheezing, so I’d give you the benefit of the doubt with regards the racefacing! “Yais-Bonais!” (alternate French spelling)
See you at the top of the Crow Road, Campsie Hills (north of Glasgow).

Ah Ha! The Gantlet has been cast down. and a warning shot fired over the bow!. Now, if I can only find some reasonable air fare to your neck of the woods I might just have to take you up on it!
I will now retire to the mirror to practice my most intimidating race face… I’m thinking something like this would work… http://twitpic.com/7451x
BTW, if you have any thoughts about tires I would really appreciate it.
Ciao,

Derf,
Careful with those mad Jockos. Anyone who eats Haggis should be considered dangerous. At least they are a disarmed, subject people.
I haven’t tried the Conti 4000 but they are constructed similarly (possibly at the same factory)as the Schwable’s I’ve been using lately. The Conti’s are supposedly more heavily contructed. I’ve had good luck so far and think the Conti’s would only be a bit hreavier and more rugged. The vectran casing seems to be pretty good stuff.
I had Vittoria Diamonte tires prior to the Schwalbes an liked them but they wear faster and cut more easily. I keep them on the track bike where theyare safer.
I have no experience with Hutchensons.

I just re-tired with a pair of Specialized S-Works Mondo Pro 700×25. 127 TPI casing, some sort of kevlar protection. I usually get 4 month ± out of them training.

I’d go with the Hutchinson tires. If they can get you set up with the new Hutchinson Intensives, you’ll be in better shape. They’ll have better puncture protection than the Fusion 2s. I’ve been running the Intensives for a couple months now and they are gripping well, great top end speed due to their Superbike GP profile and coming off of Conti 4 Seasons before these, I won’t go back to Contis.
Good luck!

Hi stickboy. Thanks for the advice on this. However, I decided this go round to try the new Conti Attack. I just put my first 100K on them and they roll very nice indeed. They were a bit pricey, but what the heck. They should last me thru this season and that is still cheap entertainment.

http://www.bikepure.org posted this on twitter today and I think it raises an interesting point:
“Crazy that Valverde is leading Dauphine and will more than likely be banned for doping offences in coming days! Wonder what Cadel thinks.”
I’m no big fan of Cadiva, but he’s probably getting punked right in front of his face.

Moncoutie strikes one for the Frenchies! JK must’ve been using his mind powers on the Dauphine!

The Desert Dog will be summarily shamed, ridiculed, embarrassed, etc. on the next podcast for his premature dissing of The Great Hope of the French – Vivé Moncoutie!!!

Moncoutié going for the polka dot jersey… how French.
