Special Guest:  SRAM’s Michael Zellmann

We are back from a longish layoff, but not due to inactivity.  In this latest installment of of the Two Johns Podcast we discuss the classics season to date, Hamilton’s situation & the french conspiracy.  Local News you will get the riveting story of our racing lives followed by an interview with Mr. Zellman where he talks about the relaunch of SRAM Force.  As usual, we finish the podcast off with listener feedback we’ve collected in the interim since the last installment.  We hear from such luminaries as:  The Illuminated Cyclist asks about his glow in the dark tape,  how to coax the road weary back on the bike- when it is your wife, ride leader- what makes a good one?  Know the route.  A few questions regarding empirical data about abstinence making the leg go faster.  All these emails are fighting for the ultimate prize of a pair of Slipstreams by Defeet.

A couple of other random things:
Theo Boss, was he protecting his line?

Here is his explanation:

Here’s how to wear a helmet.

Thanks for another podcast. I play tennis… to play tennis… but it is also a social co-worker thing. Interestingly the style is quite important. Right now I wear the Nike Federer blue shirt (Roland Garros 08) with matching sweatbands, but have disposed of matching headband since I cut my hair for cycling. White addidas shorts with blue stripes. And I like to rock the Forest Hills, rather than the Stan Smiths.

PS, you mentioned Borg, McEnroe, etc, but not the World #4 Andy Murray (soon to be #3), who is, wait for it… SCOTTISH!

I admit starting the anti-dentite references but I don’t think I can claim originality. Back in the dark ages (before STI) I worked in a shop and we always associated Dentists with Serrottas. Please, Dentists (especially mine) it’s just a joke, we need the novocaine.

I did originate Two-Johnic Law, the acronym HWSNBN and had a pretty good fight going with the Florida Flash. I had to move to John’s basement and change my name ’cause of that comfortable freak.

The Two-Johnic Law thing was supposed to be a play on the Islamic Law and in be some super-strict oppressive thing with Orwellian, inquisition-like undertones. Again, just a joke, please don’t kill me. People would be hobbled, sent to the rack, blinded or impaled for offenses against good cycling manners and taste. Re-education centers/concetration camps (Fred Farms is my working name) would teach proper paceline riding, bar taping and sanitary bearing service.

John G. just might be maniacal and ruthless enough to make that work but John K. is like his conscience, undermining my evil plans. John K should’ve been on Theo’s other shoulder when I told him to chuck that sucka into the barriers!

    Two-Johniclly,

Hey, if Amore & Vita is sponsored by the Vatican, then who sponsors the Inferno team?

p.s. John G, the Cinelli plugs that go with the Lumin tape are red, and relective.

  4. urbanhermit Says:

…totally unrelated, but his name has come up in prior podcasts. There’s a really good interview with Joe Parkin up on bikeradar, give it a read:http://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/interview-author-and-former-road-pro-joe-parkin-21312

  5. Mavic Man Says:

I was going to buy a full Amore & Vita kit, but it has the McDonald’s golden arches all over it, and there are already too many clowns on the road. The red Ronald McDonald shoes do make an excellent platform for 100 meter sprinters and metric century riders however. Here is a classic ‘04 shot of the team from the website with director sportif PJPII (who is still running things from on high):

The whole mingling of Catholicism and McDonald’s is hard to get my mind around. Billions and Billions of wafers served. I’m lovin’ it!

  6. slice Says:

Hazzard County, Kentucky? That place may exist but no Duke’s live there.

I’m just catching up with this podcast and am only partway through the listener feedback, but back to the local news…I believe the dialect you were referring to in Charleston is Gullah. There is a whole island of folks who still speak nothing but that a little farther down the coast from Charleston. I lived in Chas. for 4 years so picked up on a fair amount of local info. Since I’m not done with the podcast I hope this isn’t redundant because you located it by the end of the podcast…
