One John in the cave & One John still smarting over having watched Twilight. This podcast we eschew Kenny Loggins references and seem to have multiple Daniel Day Lewis ones… but among other things we talk broken bones, San Remo wrap up, John K tries to race into shape, The Bank breathes life back into Cinci group rides, the second part of both interviews with Ed Nasjleti with SRAM & Olympian Jame Carney, followed by listener feedback: The Scots try to prove we have them to thank for the roots of cycling, what is spinning class etiquette? which bikes for the cobbles?, masters racing in South Africa & more! As always this week’s feedback winner gets a pair of Slipstreams by Defeet!

I don’t know about the rest of Scottish Roadie’s claims, but John Dunlop did invent the pneumatic tire (for bicycles) in the late 1800s. I think André Michelin might have been the first to use pneumatic tires on an automobile, or something like that, but Dunlop is acknowledged as the inventor of the inflatable tire.

Hey JK -
How was Tuscaloser? and Crime-ingham? I hope your stay in Birmingham was uneventful as at relates to your friends terminology of our fine city (although I live in the ‘burbs). You may be able to guess that I am not a fan of the university located in Tuscaloser and I can’t wear the kit of my team (Auburn) while on rides because I would be run over by a member of the toothless nation.

Slice- Crime-ingham wasn’t bad. Made it out unstabbed despite staying downtown. Had some good fish tacos at a place called Rojo with service by a woman with ornate glasses. Tuscaloser was pretty nice too, barring the many frat houses with plastic garbage bag fences corralling seas of red plastic cups being waded through by drunk greeks. Racing was good too- listen to next podcast for report in the following days.

Former AU Flyer, huh? Me too. I raced the first year that Auburn participated in SECC racing. Let’s see, that was ‘89, ‘90…something like that. Glad it is still going on.

Nice coverage on the SRAM tech/front derailleur set up. Ate that info up, yum!
