In this pre-Valentines Day/Tour of California podcast we spread the love. International News focuses on California and the big names showing up for the race. We make more picks for the opening stage. Local news is about taking baby steps towards a new season followed by an interview with Canadian Svein Tuft where talking about his season ahead, how to fit into the structure of the peleton & the value of the team in cycling. An unsually light listener feedback section sees us select a somewhat put off female getting the cold shoulder from other ladies on the road, as well The Cozen One update- watch wher the chamois cream goes! & Rasta Roadie sighting, would you wear Bert + Ernie? what do yo use for lube?, mtb love, can crossers be trusted?, John G is Lost calling in, good Valentines advice. This is followed by the audio portion of the Binachi Mono-Q bike review. We wanted to put something special together so you could ask your sweetie, ‘What better way to spend Valentine’s Day than listening to the Two Johns?’

If my wife gave me a Bert and Ernie jersey I think I’d be secure enough in my manhood to wear it. I’m not sure that my already Fred-shattered psyche could handle it though. I have enough problems with my black shoes, saddle, handlebar tape and the fact than none of my kits matches in any manner. I remember John the Indulger saying that you can’t be a Fred if you realize you’re a Fred but I don’t believe it.
Interviewing Svein Tuft: “Do you have anything else you might like to mention?” So, did Svein get the job, John K? Did he deliver a presentation before the interview? Will you be posting his slides on the blog?
Stumpy- Svein is the leading candidate for the position of ‘rider with best perspective & humility’. Maybe we will post some slides of him finishing the AToC prologue faster than other riders with larger egos. Must be less drag.

Heh heh! Give the man the gig – hell, he never even asked about salary.
Absolutely right tho’ – it’s good to hear riders talking about racing more generally rather than – ahem – “global awareness” (usually of themselves).
PS – Allez Cav!
I grew up the son of a sports writer/editor. I loved the “aw shucks, jus’ happy to be here and help the team” sports figure. This guy fits the ticket.
