Smug irony or who cares?
The Two Johns are improving their podcast fitness in this high tempo installment. A motion is made to change the international segment into the Moncoutie/Museeuw segment: motion passed. Each John goes cross racing & tells the tales, Jelly Belly director interview & listener feedback with the highly anticipated follow up to The Cozen One’s drama. This week we select a winner for the Slipstreams by Defeet & white is still available, I found another bag of them.

Dumb question unrelated to the podcast: When you hit 35 do you have to enter races as a 35+ rider or can you ride the normal senior categories if you want (ACA license)?
Have we looked deeper into the significance of the medallian in cycling? I think I need to get one. Any suggestions?
And should I go back to a group ride where the leader asks me to wear a brighter (ie- Day glo or blaze orange) jersey? Is royal blue the new black or something?
Anyone have any insight into attending a cycling “camp”? I’ve heard really good things about another ex-postie’s coaching service in Chicago and I wanna check it out.
Urbanhermit — you must be talking about Robbie Ventura and Vision Quest Coaching. I have been working with them for two years and it has been fantastic. Robbie is exceptional; smart, a great motivator, and very tuned into what each of his individual atheletes are doing. My personal coach is great too; very accessible. They really treat you as an individual and the group rides, workouts, etc. are first class. I attended their annual training camp in Solvang last year and felt like I had become a pro for a week.
Dynomite! – You should definitely get a medallion of the Madonna del Ghisallo. Very Euro.
In reference to the Dayglo, a local cyclist that is on a local team and has a local website exhorts people to wear high viz instead of their team kit. His point is that a driver will rarely remember the sponsor of the team and may not see you, but will inevitably see you in high viz. That being said, I don’t own anything high viz but wouldn’t take offense if suggested.
Slice…good call on both questions my friend…good call indeed!
NFSW – not safe for work. Just so you know.
