Well, you 2 Johns listeners have been busy little elves this week. We’ve received an unprecedented number of donations (thank you very much) and a few product ideas. Donations go to our mailing and technology expenses and to John K’s recumbent project. As for the product, check out this tee by Fun Run Robbie. Some short of class project with a quotation by Phil Liggett where he inserted his own name instead of Bernard Hinault’s… hmm, interesting.

FRR also threatens to send us coffee mugs emblazened with the same. Other product you may have caught if you’re a twitter follower of ours. Here’s Chip braving the cold with a pair of 2 Johns socks. Limited run only.

Don’t lose heart though. It is our intention to finalize some 2 Johns merchandise for an early January release. After Christmas, I’ll be holed up in northern Michigan without much to do but snowshoe and icefish. I figure I’ll have a least a couple hours a day to talk to the other John and roll out the product. We’ll also get one more podcast out before the New Year. It should feature a review of The Warm Front.
Have a safe holiday — John G.

For what it is worth…
I like the PI shoes a lot. I won a pair at a race so I figured I’d give them a shot. The retail on the pair I won was like $100-125 or something like that. I liked them immediately after I put them on (rare for cycling shoes) and I wore them nearly everyday (MTB & road). They have a nice stiff sole & nice tread on the bottom, not hard plastic like Sidi.
Now after 3-4 years I could probably get a new pair as I have beat the snot out of them. Still, I’ll keep them around as a back-up pair. They could very well be the best shoes I have had. My $300 Sidis wore out quick than than the PI.
Sure, they don’t have the Euro “cool factor” but for hundreds less I take em. Also PI sponsors local cx races.

PI Barrier GTX MSRP $250.00
SPD/MTN-style nylon sole w/ remove-able toe spikes (included), 455 gms. 38-47 in 1/2 sizes & 48.
Gore-tex Lining (waterproof), 200g Thinsulate insulation.
Designed like CC ski boot: internal speed lacing system w/ zip up outer.Seamless upper is easy to clean and the shoes feel light on your feet.
The picture is after a mtn. bike ride this week – 19 at start and 23 at finish – Two John’s DeFeet Wool-e-ator tall sock and my toes were toastie!
Also was out earlier in week – 6 degrees at start and 9 when we finished. Used a Woolie-Bullie that day. I did not have trouble w/ my feet getting cold during the ride (about 1:40 ride time) but they were cold when I finished.
I have not used them on the road yet but they are working great on the trails.

Hi Gus, if you can’t get a Fun Run Robbie T-shirt, send me a pm (if the 2 Johns don’t object) as FRR is a regular at my local pub. I’ll see what I can do to help this guy get the recognition he deserves.

I hate to be the buzz kill, but feel before hundreds of thousands of the t’s are printed, it really is a One John T-Shirt. Not because there has been a spat between us or we broke up or anything like that, just that there is only a single John pictured.
