Hmm, looks like I need a proof reader for my captions…ah well, not to worry…

All this Cross talk is getting me a little jealous. As far as I know there isn’t any Cross on offer down here in Australia. If some brave soul did decide to try and get a Cross scene off the ground down under do you think we would be better trying to run it in our summer to align with the international cross season (and the associated seasonal interest) or stick to the tradition of Cross in the cold and mud – and run it when you guys in the northern hemisphere are smack bang in the middle of your regular cycling season (and so are we to a certain extent given it doesn’t really get all that cold down here).

    Hey Granny Ringer,

Interesting question about when would be the best time to hold a Cyclocross in AUS.. I’m an American living in Chiba, Japan and think that if you held it sometime during the late fall or early winter (Japan time) Nov/Dec/Jan then you might attract a lot of Japanese Bike Enthusisits. JAL (Japan Airlines) sponsers two big events in Hawaii every year, a running marathon and also a century ride and every year it’s absolutly packed with Japanese athelets. I think with the right type of promotion and maybe consider a road race rather then a cross race you might have a pretty good draw… Throw in my race registration free and I’ll promise that I come! :-)

Sometime in the next few years I’m considering a long tour in Australia… Maybe a Brisbane to Melbourne Route.. It’s been a long time dream of mine and it’s about time I make it come true.

Melbourne is the best..flat, bike friendly roads, seaside breezes and miles and miles of Dentists with $6,000 bikes.

OZ Dreaming — make sure to check out the next podcast. There’s an interview with China Todd out of Beijing. He started a cyclocross series there a few years ago. It is growing! Not too far from Japan, eh? See here — http://cyclosportschina.com/?p=392 — for series information.

Thanks John… I did listen already to that great interview and marvel at the guy that he could spend 20 years there. China is a “challenging” place to work and excel in and Todd is obviously excelling! Physically China and Japan are close, but it would be like comparing USA and Central America…

There are a few odd (as in sparse, not strange) cross events in Japan, but the movement isn’t catching on too fast here.. proabably because of their abhorance to anything dirty!.. :-)

The beer cap should definitely aid the recumulator on his ride with recumbent girl….is there a attatchment to hold a bottle of liquor and is there a hanger attatchment for washing?
