Don’t drink and ride. Unless you have just spent the last week organizing a cross race. After a lot of time raking, taping, staking, clearing, cutting, promoting, planning, and stressing over the Ohio Valley Race Series’ Gun Club CX, I was ready for this beer hand up on the last lap of Men’s Elite. 1st cross race in 2 years, no training, and a spectacular crash in the sand. I’ll take the 11th place and the beer gladly.

Oh yeah! I won a bottle of Belgian brew for my crash in the pit.

Holy electric blue socks batman!
Now then, my problem with cross is that I love to ride my bike and hate to run. So running while carrying my bike would just piss me off. I would however be open to the idea if they did offer a “beer-a-lap” rule.

Awesome! I like the beer a lap concept.
In our local mtb ride, there’s a beer sprint for the first post ride glass of Chimay. Prost!

Dude, those socks!!! Please don’t wear those and a beard or else rumors will start flying that you are building a recumbent.

Are those things a political statement, or are you channeling Lars Boom with the Rabobank blue?

JG, is that bottle of Kasteel or Koeninghaven?
November 4th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
Enough about the socks – check out the watch!

Good eye. Yes that is a bottle of Kasteel. Two bottles of fine Belgian brew were supplied by Brian Neiport and given out as primes. The first to the winner of the lap one, the second to the best crash in the sand pit. Unfortunately I won the latter. It was good and just the thing need for last night’s celebration.

Sorry, I’m over 40 and cannot make out the specifics on the watch. I’m jealous about the beer, however.

I would say something smart and whitty but I am busy making cookies!
November 5th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
Ah! Cookies! They are a way to a man’s heart. I believe the well meaning Two Johns forgot to mention to you about how men or boys(or idiots) relate to the inanimate world of cycling (sports. music or activities) . We simply like it, because the feedback is directly related to amount of input we put into it. Look, Some of us look at it as poetry in motion, Some of us, as means to prove ones worth to who knows who or Some simply look at it is as a way to get to point A to point B. It’s all a matter of how You want to be looked at and appreciated. Believe me it’s all related. Just ride your style. Someone will eventually ride up and get what you’re all about.

Until I saw these photos, I was certain that John G was the serious one of the duo. He now appears to be Jerry Lewis to Carolina John’s Dean Martin. Bet it felt good to unwind.
Here is a great Christmas idea for John G for those of you who need are making a shopping list:

John’s crash was indeed impressive. I think he learned and looked more smooth each pass after that crash.
John’s wife was equally impressive… – she was volunteering her time to work the food stand inside the lodge. Helping out the “cause”, serving food, cooking. I had an amazing PB&J sandwich post race with a brownie chaser.

That christmas idea would be a step up from the current set up…..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqZQmS8KeLM

That commercial is a genuine classic. If I had a Mr. Microphone, I would say, “Hey Hot Beth! Pick you up in about an hour!”
After I applied my GLH9, of course. Don’t remember GLH9?
