New Podcast 4/2/2008
new podcast April 2nd, 2008
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens, brown paper packages tied up with strings, and rain caps like the one below are a few of my favorite things. The rain cap on the right, an indispensible but often overlooked piece of kit, especially valuable during this time of year out shines its cotton counterpart on the left in the times it is needed most, 45-55 and rainy. The podcast is back to keep you company on those cold rainy days. Feedback rich, we discuss top american riders of all time, conclusive data linking abstinence (stopping short) being the equivalent to training in the high alps with EPO, a wife wants in on the action, one year, brake pads, ball bearings… it goes on and on in this mostly feedback podcast.

A bit ironic that no one from the HB club turned out to race last Sunday (due to the threat of rain?)…

yeah, i was wondering that too. i saw you did well in the rain. speaking for myself, i am still recovering from sickness. a few did go down to louisville on saturday though.

Maybe the lack of turn out in the rain was because the team has no rain caps?

Maybe John has them all? Certainly at least two.

I hate that the Rock Racing Team wasn’t invited to TDG. I think that maybe what they are doing is needed to get peoples attention with racing. I understand that we have tradition, but we also have a need to create a larger fan base and pull more state side companies to back teams. I would one day love to turn on my nightly news and get cycling updates just like football, basketball, or baseball. Am I just a Dreamer?

Ned Overend?
Didn’t hear him mentioned . . . if the list isn’t limited to road riders that competed in Europe, he’s at least worthy of an very strong honorable mention. Plus, he’s still winning races - cross, hill climbs, mt. bike, xterra.

I agree- Overend could be in the discussion. If the knock is that he excelled on the MTB, that would be ignoring his road success and he did compete in the world’s road race in Colorado Springs in 1986.

Rain = something that has kept the days pretty nasty here over the last few weeks. I was actually supposed to be on a flight to Columbus, OH this morning to do a little riding my with my brother’s fiance’s father (confusing, n’est pas?), but Skybus decided to go bankrupt yesterday, so now I am at work. All the same, he said it was pretty nasty there too, and cold. He will be down here in May so we will get some riding done in the nice Carolina springtime.

Don’t book tickets on airlines with the word “bus” in them…

That’s the truth, hindsight is 20/20 vision.
