New Podcast 3/18/2008
new podcast March 18th, 2008
Like a good dog, the podcast comes home after 2 weeks away. We talk about some International stuff, local racing, and go through 14 emails which include various and sundry topics like: a Special Relationship with our British cycling brethren, a lonely Ohio bike racer looking for his cycling soulmate, roller derby-style blocking in a Georgia bike race, the symptoms of over training, how to find citizen bike races, brake routing solutions for cx bikes, the www.dicklanevelodrome.com in Atlanta, buying used vs. new bikes, data for our study, don’t let levi ride.com and rumors about Johan, license plates, why or why not race - a list, selecting a nanny, shaving, and numb feet. Both Johns are a little cranky, tired, and sick. That makes for great podcast.

The Desert Dog surveys his dog domain.
Thanks, as always, goes to to DeFeet for their contribution to the Listener Feedback of the Week award.

I’ve never particpated in a 12h or 24h time trial but, assuming I can finish, I can predict my time to the second. Ok stop Booing.
Yeah the offensive linemen at the Georgia Cup is all the talk down here. They even pulled the thread off bikeforums.net. Do you know what kinda pull you gotta have to get something completely removed from the internet? You are getting too close to this one, leave it alone.
I’ve ridden with a few of the offenders but haven’t seen any of them since. They are hiding from His Rickness I guess. I heard their side of the story through another. They make it sound like everyone except one team had someone up the road so they were just rolling along. They claim all the whining is coming from one team.
According to the now missing thread (http://bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=393488
), they were yelling to the officals to prevent anyone trying to cross the centerline to get around. That doesn’t look good when the guy blocking and yelling to the officals is one the organizers!
Anyway I wasn’t there but it sounds like they pissed some folks off. Keep in mind, they are a 3/4 team with “Elite” in the team name. I’ll be looking for them at Le Tour.

I have never even considered a 12 hour TT and I have no plans to even consider anything so insane.
Like I said in my email to the Johns, I was in the race in question and we did not have anyone in the break.
Three guys went way across the double yellow and bridged up to the break and managed to time so that the officials weren’t looking. And yes, one of the promoters was in the race and was yelling his head off at the three offenders as they tore ass up the wrong side of the road.
A buddy of mine, who rides for the offending team and in the break at the time, said that if those three guys hadn’t caught the break that the break would never have stayed away.
All that said, its over and done with. The officials this past weekend at the Perry Georgia Cup race made mention of the incident, saying that while it was not illegal it was very unsportsmanlike and not to let it happen again.
That is all.

Surely a well placed hand on their seatposts would’ve shown what’s what?
Ps. Slipstream in the Tour. David Millar. I’m happy.
