3 interviews x (international+local)+ Listener Feedack x (technology/johns powertap) = longest podcast ever.Lots of other voices populate this edition of the podcast, Tour of Langkawi, Bobby Julich interview (in full), and Mike House tells us road the road he hoed moving up the ranks of competetive cycling.  The rest is filled with Schabobele/Mentor Eve race preparations, listener feedback:  should I stay, or should I go pro? Over/Under??  dreaded saddle sores, save my soul!

Listerner Feedback Award – it was a tough choice this week – is a pair of DeFeet Slipstreams.

Hi Johns – Just heard the new podcast, good stuff! On the Shimano cable discussion, I am wondering if what Shimano is actually putting out in 2009 is their electric group, not an internally routed cable group? I have not personally seen pictures or read any articles on it; I just had the story told to me from a friend who said that Shimano is putting out a group in 2009 without the cables sticking out of the sides of the shifters and that the hoods would have a more sleek design. Velonews has some pictures of Fabian Wegmann’s electric group for the ToC on their web site (link below) and it looks exactly like the group that was described to me. Anyway, just a thought…..

What a great podcast. Only took me two days to get through it. Well worth it though. In California for the tour, sorry Amgen Tour of California. Weather is great making it to sacramento tomorrow for the finish. Will try to get some pics for your blog.

Also, 2JP listeners that watched the ToC coverage yesterday certainly noted that BMC rider Scott Nydam prefers his glasses under the straps.

I’m sitting in a coffee shop looking at a guy outside with Assos bibs over his jersey. He even seems to have things in the jersey pockets, but tucked down into the bibs. I just thought I’d share the sighting. I wonder if he rode here from Cincinnati.

Hi guys, listening to the podcast right now.

I know that you have no love for doping, and your statements about Astana reflect a very conservative belief that even a new team, as long as it carries a tainted name, it deserves to be treated as such. This was further highlighted when you talk about how the Tour of California is somewhat hypocritical by allowing the team to race (mentioning Levi) when they said they wouldn’t let anyone implicated in doping race (which Levi isn’t implicated).

However, you shortly follow with a quick discussion of VDB – and basically brush off his doping…how amazing he was when he was 19…

I just don’t understand. You seem to show some love for an admitted doper who is generally regarded for having thrown his career away with drugs, alcohol & doping.

    I just don’t get it.
