It’s an up only, deadender, and super hard at the beginning. Last time I went up, and then down, I almost stacked it into a herd of cows who emerged from the fog.

Book your rooms in Lourdes now. I recommend the de la Grotte or the Imperial. Nightly candlelight processions to the Cathedral, bike path just out of town leading to the base of the Hautacam, a few good discos, and awesome pizza. It’s like the Las Vegas/Disney Land for Catholics.
